Mariners are advised that on Saturday 22nd August 2026 a Thames Sailing Barge Event is scheduled to take place culminating with up to 8 Barges arriving in The Burnham area of the River Crouch during the afternoon/early evening.
Some of the vessels will be competing in an informal race from the River Medway which will finish at the Branklet Buoy.
On arrival at Burnham, and subject to weather conditions, the barges are likely to proceed to anchor overnight between Burnham Sailing Club and the entrance to Burnham Yacht Harbour.
The event will be co-ordinated by the vessel ‘JANE’
The Barges and vessel ‘JANE’ will be keeping a listening watch on VHF channels 16 and 72
Mariners are kindly requested to navigate with care and caution in the vicinity of the barges particularly when they transit through the Burnham Fairway.
