As of 1st January 2026, Canoes, Kayaks, Paddleboards and Sailboards will no longer be required to register and make payment whilst operating within Rivers Crouch and Roach.
Insurance
Canoes, Kayaks, SUPs and Sailboards used within the Crouch Harbour Authority District will be required to have compulsory third party liability insurance with an indemnity of not less than £3,000,000.00, whether this be through a private policy or Club/Association membership e.g. Paddle UK/British Canoeing.
It is not necessary to provide a copy of Insurance Policy.
Launch Sites for Canoes, Kayaks, SUP’s and Sailboards
There are only 2 public launching slipways within the Crouch Harbour Authority District located at South Woodham Ferrers and Hullbridge. All other slipways are privately owned and cannot be used without the specific permission of the owners.
Club Vessels
Any vessel that is being used for training must be supervised at all times.
