Havengore Bridge: High Winds

Please be aware that the operation of Havengore Bridge may be affected during periods of excessively strong winds. There is a safety measure built into the lifting program which restricts the operation in winds of 34mph (30 knots), and will not allow the system to reset until the wind is stable below 28mph (25 knots).

This is a difficult closure to predict accurately in advance so please be aware that there is a possibility that even if the bridge status is “open to marine traffic”, it may not be able to be operated if this circumstance prevails.

This has also impacted on our ability to conduct test lifts as per our usual regime over the past couple of weeks, but we have endeavoured to complete lifts during more settled conditions.

Havengore Bridge: Open to Marine Traffic (08.02.19)

Further to my previous update, I’m pleased to inform you that the continued work by our contract engineers this afternoon has remedied the fault with the hydraulic lifting mechanism and Havengore Bridge is now open to marine traffic in accordance with the MOD Byelaws.

We thank you for your patience during this period of closure.
